Terminator Genisys is set in 2029, where John Connor leads the human resistance against Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that has taken over the world. He learns that Skynet is planning to send a T-800 terminator back to 1984 to kill his mother Sarah Connor, and a T-1000 back to 2017 to ensure its own creation.
